Psychedelic-Assisted Ketamine Therapy

Psychedelic-assisted ketamine therapy decreases ruminations (worry thoughts), quiets the brain and produces a state of relaxation from ordinary concerns and one’s usual state of mind. The goal of oral ketamine given in an outpatient psychiatric setting is to allow your brain to relax into a dissociative state that will disrupt your chronic negative feelings and obsessive preoccupations. Developing a “mind-set” or intention prior to your journey is key, as well as follow up integration work.

Currently Serving Oregon, Colorado, Hawaii and Washington.

Retreats held in Oregon and Hawaii

Oral Ketamine is only offered to those 18 years or older. There are certain conditions where Ketamine is contraindicated. Your Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who has received specialized training in psychedelic-assisted modalities will make the final determination if you qualify.

Psychedelic-assisted oral ketamine is considered an “off-label” use by the FDA.

Research has shown that the enhanced neuroplasticity state that oral ketamine induces can last for weeks. Continued daily integration work is key for maximizing the benefits of ketamine. Your integration guide will provide you with tools to continue this important work for the home setting.

The Cost:

$350.00 for initial psychiatric evaluation.

Sessions (total of 6 sessions is recommended by the research for long-lasting results): $299.00 each.

Sessions 1,2,3 and 6 are guided via ZOOM. Sessions 4 and 5 are self-guided.

Additional integration sessions are offered at $75.00/hour.

Traditional Psychiatric Care: Medication & supplement management from a holistic approach. I look at each individual in-depth to determine the best treatment options. Together we decide what options will work best for you to help you meet your mental health goals. $350.00 initial assessment, $150.00, 15 min. follow up sessions. Offering telehealth and in-person sessions (office located in Newport Oregon)

Psychotherapy offered, I utilize a Jungian perspective and Internal Family Systems. Cost is $200/hr.

Our team members are all different, with diverse lives, styles and backgrounds but what is consistent is that all of them are kind, inspirational and committed to helping you achieve your mental health goals.

MAT (medication-assisted treatment) for opioid addiction: Consults for this service are $99. If your provider decides that you are a good candidate for the program and you agree to our treatment plan, the first prescription will be for a week (induction). All follow up and maintenance visits will be for 4-week prescriptions.

All prescriptions require an appointment, which is $99.

We do accept insurance including Medicaid for Colorado patients but not currently in other states, however most insurers will cover prescription, or a savings card like Good Rx can substantially reduce the cost of the medication. Note that Suboxone (buprenorphine-naloxone) is the preferred medication and we cannot prescribe Subutex (buprenorphine alone) unless you have proof of a failed Suboxone treatment or are currently pregnant.

In office or at home (your cost app. $6-8) Urine Drug Screening is required before prescription refills will be sent in. You may also be asked to provide random urine for screenings and unannounced pill/film counts. MAT programs have strict rules that patients have to abide by and that are enforced by the DEA, which include no early refills. While we encourage making an appointment several days before running out of the medication to avoid last-minute pharmacy issues, we cannot authorize refills earlier than the grace period of your individual pharmacy (which is generally between 1-3 days).

In summary, we cannot authorize early refills for the following:

  • In cases of lost or stolen medications (note that you have agreed to our treatment plan to keep your medication in a safe place)
  • You took more than the prescribed and authorized amount
  • Travel-related early refills

Deb Avery is a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner licensed in Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Hawaii, with full prescriptive authority. I hold a Masters Degree in Nursing: Child and Adult Psychiatry. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology.

I have received specialized training through SCPTR, Salt City Psychedelic Training and Research Center in order to best understand how to utilize ketamine and other psychedelic modalities in a safe and effective manner.

I also utilize Jungian concepts in my psychiatry practice as well as shamanic and archetypal astrology to provide individuals with insights into their innate nature as well as how the Universe influences each of us.

My practice offers a unique mix of biology-based science, holistic modalities as well as esoteric and mystical offerings. Each treatment plan is developed in collaboration with the client and based upon the clients personal goals for healing and growth.

I believe that each individual has the knowledge within them to heal themselves. But sometimes circumstances, illness, stress, trauma, etc. blocks us from accessing this information.

I am also certified in level I Brain Spotting:

Where you look affects how you feel. Brain spotting Psychotherapy is brain-based targeting the deeper subcortical areas of the brain, brain stem and spine. Brain spotting locates points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. Brain spotting (BSP) was discovered in 2003 by David Grand, Ph.D. Brain spotting is effective for a wide variety of emotional and somatic conditions. Brains potting is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other behavioral conditions. It can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement. Brain spotting gives the therapist access to both brain and body processes. Its goal is to bypass the conscious, neocortical thinking to access the deeper, subcortical emotional and body-based parts of the brain. I only perform Brain spotting in person.

A good therapeutic relationship helps the patient to let go of psychological defenses, surrender to the experience, and endure the difficult periods of sessions characterized by intense physical and emotional suffering or confusion. The quality of the therapeutic relationship is essential for working through the most crucial situations in psychedelic therapy, the crisis of trust. ~Stan Grof
